Why confirmation matters
The OECD’s 2023 study describes account-closure difficulties and charges continuing after a request in Tunisia. This is historical evidence, not your bank’s current tariff. Withdrawing the balance is not confirmation of closure.
Before applying — Barka advice
List salary receipts, recurring transfers, direct debits, uncleared cheques and pending card transactions. Arrange their handling with the bank and download statements. Ask which linked obligations or products must be settled and how to return payment instruments.
Request a written response
Submit a dated request and keep acknowledgement. Ask for an itemised final balance and confirmation of effective closure. Dispute charges through the official complaint channel with the original reference; do not infer current fees or deadlines from the 2023 report.

Useful questions
Is a zero-balance account necessarily closed?
Do not assume so. Request effective-closure confirmation and clarify any outstanding transactions with the bank.
